WHO IS: JUDGE KIM COOKS
Judge of the 255th Family Court, Dallas County, Dallas, Texas
Judge Kim Cooks is a native of Colorado. She moved to Dallas, Texas in 1992. Judge Cooks earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington. In 2002 she earned her Juris Doctorate from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas; where she graduated with honors. She began her legal career as a prosecutor and went into private practice thereafter. Judge Cooks is an experienced Family Law Practitioner and was a zealous, passionate litigator as an attorney.
Judge Cooks is the proud mother of a handsome, intelligent young man. She believes in making sacrifices for herself before allowing her son to have to sacrifice. Judge Cooks is a long-time member of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. She is also a member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Judge Cooks began her judicial journey in January 2015 as the Presiding Judge of the 255th Family District Court in Dallas County, Dallas, Texas.
